Lucas Gives up on Movie Biz, Vows to bring Overhyped Garbage to the Small Screen
Cash cow George Lucas appears to be giving up on traditional theatrical films and ushering in the age of pay-per-view television and Internet distribution. George sounded downright jaded about the movie industry in a recent interview with Variety, saying, “As far as Lucasfilm is concerned, we've moved away from the feature film thing because it's too expensive and it's too risky.”
Lucas went on to say that for the $200 million he would have to spend on a theatrical feature, he can make 50 to 60 two-hour TV movies, adding, "I think the secret to the future is quantity.” This seems like a natural progression for George, since he clearly gave up on quality decades ago.
