ShatnerdoinghisthingWith over 50 years in show business, William Shatner has done it all – drama (Star Trek, Boston Legal), comedy (The Transformed Man), and now game shows. Tonight, Show Me the Money, ABC’s latest stab at reality game show programming premieres. Billed as “Shat-tastic,” Shat-tackular,” and “Shat-stounding,” SMTM is like no other show on television, combining variety, comedy, and plenty of sexy dancers (including its Shat-terrific host). We were fortunate to speak with Mr. Tambourine Man, live via conference call. Here’s what he has to say about Howie Mandel, Star Trek XI, and his infamous call for fans to Get a life.

My Name Is Earl: Barely Out of Diapers and Already Putting Grown Shows to Shame

Nup_103825_0040_1 My Name Is Earl is one of the basest, most juvenile bits of non-game show programming on network TV these days. It’s also among the most clever shows since The Simpsons, and certainly the most charming since the lamentably cancelled Arrested Development. Here’s hoping it follows the career trajectory of the former. My Name Is Earl is helping to raise the bar, not just for half-hour sitcoms, but also for the very profession of comedic acting. Its cast delivers more expression and depth than anyone ever expected. Need examples? I'll give you two: Jason Lee and Jaime Pressly.

Dancing with the Stars: And the Winner is...

Smith_24_240x360 "It's an ugly trophy... but you really want to win it." -Drew Lachey, season two champion

Dancing with the Stars began its third season in the dog days of summer almost three months ago, with a motley crew of contestants – some extremely talented, others extremely eager, and, naturally, those who were just there for some extreme exposure. Viewers tuned in every week, twice a week, and got more than just dancing. There was comedy… drama… injury… and… bullfights? After ten weeks of reality-style dance competition, let’s take a waltz down memory lane.

Nup_101508_0093 Supersize Me Baby…
This week’s episode of The Office focuses on the merger of the Stamford and Scranton branches of Dunder Mifflin. Michael Scott is overly excited about the new people joining the branch. Of course it has less to do with building Dunder Mifflin than it does with the fact that Michael will have a fresh new audience for his antics, and perhaps a few new friends.

30 Rock: If a Show Rocks, but No One Watches, Does it Really Rock?

30r 30 Rock is not just a solid sitcom; it’s maybe the best meta-show ever. The idea has always been ludicrous: an NBC show about the behind-the-scenes happenings of a show on a fictional network called…NBC. I mean, who cares? According to the ratings, not enough people. According to the critics, everyone should. The critics, in this case, are right.
