Fall Season Report Card: Heroes Hot, Grey's Not So Much

Hiro Now that we’re a few weeks into the fall TV season, it’s high time to take a step back and see whether a few popular shows are living up to expectations. Here’s a healthy dose of honest criticism for four favorite series.

Heroes. This show surprised everyone. Yes, it’s a cheesy, unoriginal concept -- regular people get superpowers through crazy modern science. Still, Heroes nails its tone perfectly. It doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s a comic book. No logic, no physics -- just one fun, escapist hour every week. Good vs. evil. Luke vs. Vader. Michael J. Fox vs. Rush Limbaugh. It’s a guilty pleasure you don’t have to feel guilty about. Grade: A

GMMR: How I Met Your Mother Recap -- “Crazy Eyes”

This is without a doubt the best episode of How I Met Your Mother this year. Things are starting to feel totally right with everyone in the show. It started out somewhat slow, and I was not too impressed with the first two or three minutes, but, then, it happened.

Totally Frakked: Heroes - "YouTube is Free, You Idiot!"

Heroes_haasethsdas Niki's superkid Micah can control technology with his mind, and that means things are looking up on Heroes. At least, things would be looking up, if the entire show were as exciting as its opening sequence, in which Micah and DL meet Hiro and his pal Ando at a traffic accident outside Vegas. Using their powers of phasing and time-stopping, respectively, DL and Hiro rescue a couple from a burning car. This is awesome! Right off the bat, we've got some serious action that displays the show's greatest strength: cool characters working together and playing off each other.

Sadly, it's all downhill from there. Family squabbling and psychic coppitude drag the show back into a boring quagmire.

Po89964 House - Que Sera Sera
A 600-pound man (Pruitt Taylor Vince) is brought into the hospital in a coma. He wakes up soon enough, appears to have recovered and demands to be released. But the reason for the coma remains unclear.
